The First Insiders, The Ongoing Outsiders: Framing Native Resistance in our Modern Times will be an online screen of multiple shorts along with a discussion on modern Native resistance actions and Tribal identity facilitated by Alan Lechusza, Ph.D. Silayan Filipina will hold their 10-Year Anniversary Gala at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. A Filipino Press Thanksgiving Extravaganza will take place at the Ramada in National City. The films Pandemic Bread & The Kill Floor will be screened at the Digital Gym. There will be a San Diego Tết Festival Fundraiser Concert at the Diamond Palace. Mexican singer and actress Edith Marquez will perform at the Balboa Theatre. Brazilian singer-songwriter Rafa Pondé will perform at Winstons.
Sunday, the classic film Revenge of the Ninja will screen at the Digital Gym. At Shoreline Park, there will be a Pacific Rim Park Friendship Walk. Maya Moon Collective will host a Miso Making Workshop. At WNDR Museum, the Artitude: Bridging Cultures Through Art and Music event will present a fusion of interactive art and dance & rhythms featuring two floors of music and 20+ immersive and interactive art exhibits. The Cowboy Star Restaurant will hold a Friendly Feast AAPI Chefs Bake Sale. Allison Adams Tucker will present the 15th Annual Brazil Jazz Festa at Dizzys. And Jenny and the Mexicats will perform at Music Box. The Model Minority show at Mic Drop Comedy will feature Asian comedians. At Next Door Craft Beer and Wine Bar, there will be a Middle East, Balkan & Beyond Jam.
Monday, there will be a discussion of Indegeneity and Land Labeling at USD. Music and Dance of India at SDSU will feature Miles Shrewsbery on tabla and percussion. Los Angeles Negros will perform at the Magnolia in El Cajon. And Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter Myke Towers will perform at SDSU.
Tuesday, Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan will perform at the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum. The Taiwanese film Yi Yi will screen at the Digital Gym.
Wednesday, The Good Herbs will screen at the Digital Gym. Regional Mexican music band Fuerza Regida will be at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. Mexican pop star María José will perform at the Balboa Theatre. The Guadalajara band Maná will perform at Viejas Arena.
Next Saturday at the Mission Hills Library, Maria Butler will discuss Mexican cultural history from Olmecs to Aztecs.
Next Sunday, poet Jim Moreno will give a talk on Latin American Nobel Laureates in Poetry.
